The Wittnauer Super Compressor ref. 8007 is a standout example of mid-century dive watch engineering, built around the EPSA Super Compressor case by Ervin Piquerez S.A. Unlike traditional cases that rely on static seals, this design uses a spring-loaded caseback that tightens under pressure, increasing water resistance with depth.
Wittnauer’s relationship with Longines adds meaningful context. As Longines’ American partner, Wittnauer shared sourcing and design language, and the 8007 stands alongside Longines Super Compressor divers of the era as a close counterpart.
The watch features an internal rotating bezel, operated via the upper crown at 2 o’clock, keeping the timing scale protected beneath the crystal. The lower crown at 4 o’clock handles winding and setting, forming the classic dual-crown layout. Both oversized crowns feature the signature EPSA cross-hatched pattern, a defining trait of true compressor cases.
The result is a purpose-built dive watch where construction and layout are driven by function, making the 8007 a clear expression of the Super Compressor concept.
Model: Super Compressor
Reference: 8007
Material: Stainless Steel
Bracelet: Aftermarket Delugs Alcantara strap
Size: 36mm

Year: ~1960s
Condition: Attractive aging to the tritium lume. The case shows scratches and likely light polishing but retains strong overall proportions. The caseback has heavier wear, including scratches, polishing, along with two small dimples intentionally added at some point to assist with caseback removal in the absence of the correct die. It threads securely. The plexiglass crystal shows typical wear for its age.
Recently serviced and running. Non-quickset movement advances crisply at midnight, and the internal bezel rotates smoothly.
