The IWC reference 1828 is an early-1970s automatic dress watch built around the brand’s caliber 8541B. The stainless steel cushion-shaped case is paired with a silver sunburst dial featuring applied baton hour markers, matching baton hands, a framed date window at three o’clock and the period “International Watch Co. Schaffhausen” signature beneath the applied IWC logo.
Inside is the caliber 8541B, part of IWC’s caliber 85 family developed around Albert Pellaton’s bi-directional pawl-winding system. The movement features automatic winding, central seconds and a date display. This example carries a movement serial of approximately 2.04 million, dating it to circa 1971.

Condition: Very good vintage condition. The silver dial and hands are exceptionally clean for their age and show minimal visible wear. The case shows signs of light polishing in the past, with light scratches and surface wear present throughout. The caseback shows more noticeable cosmetic wear, including deeper scratches and marks from use. The movement runs and keeps good vintage time.
