The Patek Philippe reference 3553/1 is an unusual integrated-bracelet design from the late 1960s, combining a rectangular case, extremely thin profile and extensive textured gold finishing. This example was manufactured in 1969 and sold on July 3rd of the same year, as confirmed by its accompanying Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives. The Extract also confirms the reference, case and movement numbers, caliber 175 and original yellow gold bracelet.

The watch is constructed entirely in 18k yellow gold, with a bark-like textured finish extending across the case, dial and integrated mesh bracelet. The textured gold dial is fitted with applied yellow gold and black baton hour markers and black baton hands. Measuring approximately 26mm x 33mm and only 5.2mm thick, the rectangular case is slightly curved to follow the wrist. The sapphire crystal and integrated construction further emphasize the extremely thin profile. This exact watch was previously documented with the same dimensions and approximately 165mm overall length.

The case was manufactured by Ateliers Réunis, identified by the Key 28 Poinçon de Maître stamped inside the caseback. Ateliers Réunis specialized in the production of cases and bracelets and has a long history of working with Patek Philippe. The inside caseback also carries the Swiss Helvetia 18k gold hallmark alongside the 18K / 0.750 fineness mark, while a second Helvetia hallmark remains clearly visible on the exterior of the case.

The original Patek Philippe folding clasp is stamped Patek Philippe Genève 750 and carries the distinctive Orflex sun trademark. Orflex registered this mark in 1959, and the trademark was transferred to Ateliers Réunis in 1964 after Orflex was absorbed into the company. The clasp components are additionally stamped with matching “24” assembly marks.

Inside is Patek Philippe's manually wound caliber 175, an 18-jewel movement featuring a Gyromax balance and bearing the Geneva Seal. The movement, case and dial are all signed.

Condition: Good vintage condition. The watch remains unpolished, with the original textured finish sharply preserved throughout the case and bracelet. Both the internal and externally struck Helvetia hallmarks remain visible. Scratches, small marks and signs of wear are present throughout consistent with age. The original textured gold dial shows considerable patina and oxidation, particularly around the perimeter, and the hands show oxidation. The integrated bracelet remains in good condition and measures approximately 165mm overall length. Due to its construction, shortening it would require the bracelet to be cut. The watch was serviced within the last few years, although the exact date is unknown and no service receipt is included. It currently runs and keeps time within expectations for a vintage piece. Accompanied by its Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives and Patek Philippe leather pouch.
