The Vacheron Constantin Les Historiques collection was conceived as a way of revisiting some of the maison’s most important references, not as direct reproductions but as considered evolutions. Introduced in the late 1980s, the ref. 47101 draws clear lineage from the celebrated ref. 4178 of the 1940s, carrying forward its distinctive teardrop lugs and balanced two-register chronograph layout.
In this 36mm yellow gold 47101/4 configuration, the watch feels especially well resolved. The rare black engine-turned guilloché dial adds depth and texture, shifting subtly in the light while offering strong contrast to the applied markers and printed scales. Inside, the calibre 1140, based on the Lemania 2310, has been reworked and finished to Vacheron’s standards, with beautiful anglage and traditional decoration throughout.
This example remains in excellent overall condition for its age, with a crisp case and beautifully preserved dial. It comes complete with its original box and paperwork dating to 2002, as well as its original 18k Vacheron Constantin buckle.
